President – Azra Panjwani
Meet Azra, our President. (She/Her). She is in her final year of honours psychology. Azra is passionate about harm reduction and preventative healthcare, and hopes to continue to increase the impact The FentaNIL Project has in the community. When she’s not promoting harm reduction, Azra spends her time volunteering, working on research, and cheering on the Canucks!
VP Internal – Harleen Nagra
Meet Harleen, our VP Internal. (She/Her). She is in her third year of the collaborative Nursing program. Harleen is excited to be apart of the FentaNil project because she is passionate about harm reduction and believes it is an effective way to achieve community health. This year, she hopes to keep all of the members up to date and connected. She is looking to tackle the challenge of remote engagement. In her free time, she loves to go on hikes, travel, and watch Lakers games!
VP Education – Chelsea Luft
Meet Chelsea, our VP Education. (She/Her). She will be entering her first year in the PharmD program at UofA in Fall 2020 but previously did 2 years of BSc also at UofA. She has worked in various pharmacies for about 4 years and once she graduates she hopes to focus her work on opioid addiction medications and treatment programs. When she’s not busy with school/work she can be found binge watching the Office, going for a hike/run with family and friends or cheering on the Calgary Flames (which can be hard to do in Edmonton). She is so excited to be part of the FentaNIL Project for the upcoming school year to help educate about the opioid crisis and to provide effective harm reduction tools for those with substance use disorders.
VP Events and Fundraising – Mya Selby
Meet Mya, our VP Events and Fundraising. (She/Her). She is in her third year of the collaborative nursing program at the UofA. Mya is excited to be a part of The FentaNIL Project because she believes it is important to take preventative measures in healthcare and focus on harm reduction in the community. In her free time away from school and volunteering, Mya likes to be outdoors and travel.
VP External – Kayla Huxter
Meet Kayla, one of our VP Externals. (She/Her). She is in her fourth year of her (science) honors psychology degree at the UofA. Kayla is excited to be involved in the FentaNIL Project as she is passionate about social justice and harm reduction. This year, she hopes to expand TFP to other universities across Canada and continue to raise awareness about the current opioid crisis. Outside of school, Kayla enjoys long-distance running, baking and volunteering.
VP External – Rachael Dong
Meet Rachael, one of our VP Externals. (She/Her). She is in her third year of the Honours Neuroscience program at UofA. Rachael is interested in addiction and harm reduction, particularly in the context of community health. She is thrilled to be a part of the FentaNIL Project team this year and hopes to expand the reach of TFP in campuses and communities. Outside of school, Rachael spends her time biking, going on outdoor adventures with friends/family, making music, and working on mental health research!
VP Finance & Operations – Safiya Dina
Meet Safiya, our VP of Finance & Operations. (She/Her). Safiya’s going into her fourth year of Psychology with a minor in English. Her passion for public health research has led to her interest in being apart of this amazing team. She’s a huge advocate for the use of harm reduction strategies and education, so she’s really excited to work with TFP to help spread awareness on the importance of the matter to the public. She’s looking forward to helping create a difference in the Edmonton community. In her free time, Safiya volunteers as a Crisis Responder, writes articles, bingewatches too much Netflix and spends time with her friends!
VP Public Relations – Julia MacDonald
Meet Julia, our VP Public Relations. (She/Her). She is in her second year of the collaborative nursing program at the UofA. Julia is excited to be a part of The FentaNIL Project’s goal to reduce harm and promote wellness on the University of Alberta campus and the greater Edmonton area. This year, she hopes to increase our social media presence, distribute Naloxone across campus, and raise awareness about the current opioid crisis. Outside of school, Julia spends her time wake surfing, travelling and working as a waitress.
